Paul Metzger’s Journey-Deeds of the Valley
October 26 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Paul Metzger with his presentation “Childhood Memories and the Book, Deeds of the Valley”. While Alvira and the Ordnance have piqued the interest of many folks in the past ten or so years, for Metzger, he grew up hearing a lot of stories, and did not know which were real, which were embellished, and he was driven to know the details.
Metzger will share his journey that began 20 or so years ago when he earnestly began his research and, from all accounts, it still continues today. What he found was that his story, his family’s story, became the story of all those families impacted when the U.S. Government took over 8,600 acres of land in 1942. He was driven to know, and he accepted the challenges of his endeavor to tell this story. The story of lands taken, lands not taken; of families involved, and families impacted.
